Message from the president

Welcome to the Leadership Springfield Webpage.  We are excited to be in the second year of a three year implementation of a Strategic Plan designed to evaluate all aspects of our program.  We are examining areas from membership development to the program days our participants go through.  We hope that this process will utilize the last 27 years of experience gained through our program and allow us to stay at the cutting edge of Leadership Development.

We are building on the first year of the Strategic Plan which created a Leadership Skill taught in each program day of our adult class.  The Leadership Skill is helping teach the participants a skill that they can bring back to their workplaces with a tangible, relatable result.  This year we are evaluating the second retreat for the adult class and working on creating a new and exciting fund raising event.  The strategic plan can be viewed in it’s entirety on this website under the “strategic plan” tab.

In the last year we had an outstanding President in Laura Ward that helped execute the first year of the Strategic Plan.  I would like to thank her for her leadership in this demanding process.  We have also had two past presidents rotate off the board with Andrew Wells and David Hall, each having completed six year terms.  Both of these individuals were essential in the last few years success and will be missed on the board.  I want to thank them for their time and dedication.

I would like to use a portion of this message to invite our alumni to attend our alumni events which are free with payment of your dues. Jeff Cumley and Jay Titus are co-chairs of the Membership Development Committee and they are creating standing room only events!  If you would like information, please contact our exceptional Administrative Coordinator, Kim Everest at 862-5567 or kim(at)springfieldchamber.com or go on-line at www.leadershipspringfield.org. 

Our Communication Committee is in the process of creating new and exciting ways to keep you informed of what we are doing.  You can “like” Leadership Springfield and Leadership Academy on Facebook to stay up to date with local leadership topics and opportunities.  But you can also expect some updates in the way our email look and the ease in which you can register for events.

As the new class, Class 28, start it’s path through the program, we continue to keep our eye on the ball and work to inspire, develop and connect leaders to serve the Springfield Community.  We invite you to help us with our mission.
