Leadership Springfield names David Hall as 2016 Kenworthy Award recipient
Springfield Fire Chief David Hall was named the 2016 recipient of the O. Franklin Kenworthy Award for Outstanding Leadership June 14 at the annual alumni meeting of Leadership Springfield. Hall was recognized for his service on the Leadership Springfield board, including serving as president in 2009-10, as well his participation in numerous community groups. Hall has been with Springfield Fire Department for 30 years and became Fire Chief in 2009.
“As the head of a key public agency, he is a leader by position. But he is also a leader by example,” said Leadership Springfield President-Elect Mike Brothers. “David is a committed community servant and advocate. He’s known for being trustworthy, loyal and always available when called upon.”
Hall shared "Even though I have worked for the Springfield Fire Department for over 27 years, Leadership Springfield really opened my eyes to the needs of our community as well as the dedication of people committed to making it a better place. The experience really drove home the need for me to get fully involved. Having been chosen for the Kenworthy Award came as a complete shock to me. Over the years, I have marveled at the recipients because they are really the who’s who for community service in the Springfield Area. To be even considered in that realm is very humbling."
The award was established in 1989 in memory of Franklin Kenworthy, a posthumous graduate of Signature Class 3. Recipients must demonstrate a commitment to Leadership Springfield, community service, good citizenship, outstanding leadership and high moral and ethical standards.
