Leadership Signature Classes 33 & 34 announced following record number of applicants

A year ago, we announced that Leadership Springfield’s Signature Class program would expand to two full classes starting in Fall 2017. The idea was simple: In the more than 30 years since the program began, Springfield has grown and so has the need for thoughtful, engaged community leadership. There is always a great demand for limited spots in the Signature Class and so we felt both the need and demand led to a great opportunity to open up a second class.

The Springfield community responded, and we received 98 applications – far and away the most we’ve ever received! The selected participants names are below, and I can tell you that – as usual – it was no easy task to assemble these classes. You might think that opening up twice as many spots would make choosing the class members easier, but with so many stellar applications the process was truly just a tough as it ever has been. We’re truly fortunate to have all of these engaged and dynamic people in our city.

Our board members read all of the applications before voting for the people they felt were the best candidates for the program. A selection committee rounded out each of the two classes with an eye toward gender balance, sectors of the economy, and a mix of seasoned and emerging leaders. We’re looking forward to next year and can’t wait to begin inspiring, developing, and connecting each of these leaders in order to make an impact on the Springfield community!
