“We feel incredibly fortunate that Carrie has accepted the executive director position. She has a
strong vision for the future and really understands the infrastructure needed to plan for our
organization’s growth,” said Mike Brothers, board president.
Carrie, a graduate of Signature Class 25, will begin July 9 and be charged with providing strategic
direction for the organization, expanding programs to increase our impact on the community, and
overseeing Leadership Springfield staff. She currently serves on the executive leadership team of
Ozarks Community Hospital as their Chief Operating Officer and has spent more than a decade with
the company. Carrie also has a background in marketing and communications with various
organizations, including the Developmental Center of the Ozarks.
Don Harkey, incoming board president, led the hiring task force that ultimately recommended Carrie
to the board. “There was a lot of input and individuals involved throughout the process, and we are
thrilled that our final candidate was approved by the board. We believe she is the perfect fit to lead us
forward and cannot wait to begin working with her,” added Don.
Leadership Springfield announced the transition to a fully independent organization after three
decades as a proud affiliate program of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce and began to
seek applications for a new executive director in April of this year.
