We asked two participants in the Principals of Leadership Class 4 to give us some thoughts about the program following their kick-off retreat. Here's what they had to say.
Lisa Anderson, Principal at Central High School
I believe Principals of Leadership will provide me with the opportunity to learn from other amazing leaders throughout our community. While I grew up in Springfield, I feel like there are many aspects of this beautiful city that I know very little about or would like to know more about … and what better way to learn than with colleagues and from the experts themselves! I am so appreciative to have been chosen to be part of this group and look forward to making deeper connections within the community. My hope is to find out how I can better serve Springfield from both a personal and professional capacity while building strong relationships along the way!
Rob Kroll, Principal at Jarrett Middle School
As a participant in Principals of Leadership, I am thrilled about the opportunity to deepen roots in “my” community. As a child, my family frequently moved so when asked where I grew up, I’m not sure how to respond. After moving to Springfield for college, I set a personal goal to invest in my community and be a part of long-term change. This is why I became a principal - to serve the students and families of our community. I’m excited about Principals of Leadership because it is giving me the opportunity to learn more about my hometown and connect with others who are passionate about Springfield. It is my hope that one day the relationships I develop through this program will cause the students I serve as well as my own children to answer the question, “Where did you grow up?” with “Springfield, Missouri, and I love it!”
