Virtual Alumni Event: Understanding DISC Communication Styles

Ever wonder what makes you tick? Or why you get along well with some people better than others? It can be difficult to feel disconnected from your co-workers and struggle to motivate your employees. A strong tool for enhanced leadership is understanding the different ways people communicate! DISC is a peek into four simple communication styles: Dominate, Interactive, Conscientious, and Supportive. Join Diana Tyndall, LeadSGF Board Member and graduate of Signature Class 32, for this professional development workshop to learn more about each of these styles and how to use this knowledge in the workplace. Diana has been around DISC for more than two decades and has taught the DISC communication styles to colleagues and friends the last seven years.

Leadership Springfield and empower: abilities will be hosting an inclusion and live experience exercise to simulate what it is like to live with a disability. At empower: abilities, their mission is “To remove barriers and empower independent living for all people with disabilities.” This personal and professional development event is a chance for you to learn more about how those around you living with disabilities experience the world and start thinking of solutions to be more inclusive in the workplace and beyond. Join us at The Library Center (4653 S. Campbell Ave., Springfield, MO 65810) on Friday, November 5 from noon-1:00 pm for a disability simulation led by empower: abilities. The simulation will include tasks and observations that will be completed in the library setting to truly give participants hands-on experience and exposure to a small part of living with disabilities. The event will cover many types of day-to-day situations and share how to best work with your customers, clients, or coworkers while thinking outside the box and finding creative solutions to master new ways of doing everyday things.
