Our Alumni are Making an Impact through Impact Springfield

Posted by: Don Harkey | People Centric on Thursday, September 28, 2017

Over the past 33 years, Leadership Springfield’s three programs have produced more than 1,000 alumni. While these graduates feel more connected and informed on local issues, they often ask themselves upon graduation, “Now what?” Until recently, there honestly hasn’t been a great answer for that question. Our graduates go out and make their own impact, which is more than significant, but it has always felt like there was the potential for more. How can the community leverage these trained leaders? A year ago, we announced that Leadership Springfield’s Signature Class program would expand to two full classes starting in Fall 2017. The idea was simple: In the more than 30 years since the program began, Springfield has grown and so has the need for thoughtful, engaged community leadership. There is always a great demand for limited spots in the Signature Class and so we felt both the need and demand led to a great opportunity to open up a second class.
