We’re thrilled to welcome Sunni Nutt to the Leadership Springfield team! As our new part-time remote support Executive Projects Coordinator, Sunni will support key projects behind the scenes—helping with donor stewardship, development research, and ensuring smooth projects that keep our mission moving forward. Get to know more about Sunni’s connection to Leadership Springfield and commitment to community betterment!

Q: Can you share about your connection to Leadership Springfield?

“I first learned about Leadership Springfield when I was in a baby leadership role at Harmony House and was grateful for the opportunity to join an Access class at that time; fast forward a few years and my professional role transitioned to Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield where I was supported in applying for (and accepted to) Signature Class 44! My scholarship application for my Sig Class spot was also approved making my participation easy-peasy! I loved my time in the Signature Class especially as I got to work alongside and witness many of my colleagues’ eyes being opened to dynamics of Springfield’s community that they might not have been aware of as folks living and working outside of the nonprofit sector.

Finally, as a woman who owns a small business, I have been an on-again/off-again member of the Rosie Committee for the past couple of years and have very much enjoyed supporting and attending 100 Wise Women.

As a final note: I have long admired LeadSGF’s mission and vision for well-rounded leaders embedded in our community with a deep and broad understanding of its challenges, progress, and successes – so important!”

Q: Why is strengthening our community important to you?

“Strengthening our community is important to me from a holistic wellness perspective – we are more engaged, supportive, compassionate, and helpful towards our fellow humans when we have a sense of belonging and co-creation of our circumstances and the world around us, and when we feel like the work we are doing makes an impact.

Therefore, we are also often healthier – physically, mentally, and spiritually – too and more motivated to make a positive impact on the world around us! I have been so privileged to find these qualities myself in a variety of spaces within Springfield’s community and am grateful to get to work hard to help others find the same!”

Q: Share a fun fact about yourself or something you enjoy doing outside of work.

“It’s easy for me to make my fun fact about yoga because I own and teach at Essential Yoga Studio – it’s both work and a passion for me to support folks finding themselves and their spirituality through movement and breath practices.

In addition to my yoga teaching and practice, though, I’m also plodding my way towards a more sustainable lifestyle with my ever-expanding garden and chickens, with a 5-year plan to get out of town, literally, and into a more rural setting. I love animals, reading almost anything, and being outside!”

We’re so excited to have Sunni on our team and can’t wait to see the impact she’ll make in helping Leadership Springfield thrive!
