Our programs provide strengths-based leadership development for area professionals, making us better at our jobs, as bosses and coworkers, and also as community leaders. In addition to that, we teach the value of community engagement. We offer countless opportunities each year to help area professionals learn more about the community, seeing Springfield through a new lens and better understanding how the whole community can intersect and work together.
As part of the process of diving deep into our community’s blue ribbons and red flags, we often learn something new and think “How did we not know about this!” or “Someone needs to hear this story!”
Our alumni frequently recount examples of encountering something during their program experience that pissed them off or, quite the opposite, thoroughly impressed them. That same sentiment continues. Every month at Leadership Springfield, from our two-day Access Class to our student program Academy Class to our Signature Class flagship program, we are seeing and hearing some incredible stories of real people doing amazing work that we didn’t know about before.
In a search for ways to give those stories more voice and increase connection for our community, we began plans to launch a podcast over a year ago. You know, back in the days without Covid??
As we sought advice from podcasting experts BKD Wealth Advisors, we learned that the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce was also making plans to share content through podcasting. After sharing our ideas and seeing the synergy in this new venture, our organizations have joined forces to launch one podcast with two episode drops a month! SGF Insider will feature episodes from the chamber the first Thursday of every month, and Leadership Springfield will share episodes every month on the third Thursday. One podcast, two episodes. Sharing stories of people and places doing great things, and giving you an insider’s look at Springfield.
The Leadership Springfield podcast episodes, sponsored by American National, will focus on connecting people to community. We’ll bring you our “Plugged In” episodes monthly, where we’ll share how community leaders of every age and stage make local impact by diving deep into community red flags and blue ribbons and putting their leadership strengths and talents into action.
